Talk Data to Me: Long Term Data Trackers to Maximize Scholar Success
Limited Capacity filling up

Educators at high performing charter schools are awash with data. We are consistently trying to respond to this data, but how do we manage such large amounts of data when we have so many other things to juggle? In this session, teachers will be introduced to a long term data tracking tool that allows them to track scholars by question type, standard, and skill. Additionally, this tool will allow teachers to track students by academic services, unit performance, and other demographic factors. Come learn how to be a whiz with data!

Note: Participants should bring their DP computer to this session.

Making Meaning of MAP for Scholars
Limited Capacity filling up

We take MAP testing two to three times a year. This is the equivalent of spending three full school days on MAP testing. If we commit this much time to it, we need to make it meaningful for our scholars. During our session you will learn key entry points to understanding MAP data. You will leave with the MAP reflection tools and templates necessary to transfer ownership of data to scholars. This leads to all teachers ultamate goal of our scholars being invested in their own learning and growth.

Here are two main reasons why you should LOVE MAP testing:
1. Being able to track scholar data over multiple years embodies what it means to be a "Growth Matters Most" network
2. The data is available instantly. Mean you can create purposeful groupings, targeted inventions, and personalized goals for scholars right away.

Desmos Activity Builder
Limited Capacity seats available

Desmos is a powerful, free online graphing calculator. If you've used Desmos graphing calculator and/or activity lessons, this session can help you take things to the next level! Desmos now offers an activity builder for mathematics teachers that allows for the development of original, interactive, engaging lessons. One of the best parts about using Desmos activities is the live data collection feature. When you implement the lesson, you can see individual student responses for each question/task and then decide to provide individual, small group, or whole class feedback. This session is for teachers who do not know how to create a custom activity using Desmos. Please come with an AIM that requires student to do mathematics in multiple representations, one being the coordinate plane. Creative Science teachers might be able to adapt this for their classrooms!

Everything you need to know about testing
Limited Capacity seats available

Do you ever give tests and wonder what the results tell you about your students? Perhaps you've seen results that contradict your perception of how your class has grasped the material. This session will provide a framework for speaking about test validity, and draw boundaries around what tests can and can't tell us about student performance. We will also articulate what makes a test question a good one, and explore ways we can objectively talk about test quality.

The Method Behind The Madness
Limited Capacity full

Everyone in the education field can tell you a story about a scholar who exhibited baffling behavior patterns. The problem is, most of these stories don't include a solution or happily ever after.  Despite the implementation of disciplinary procedures and social-emotional support strategies, the problematic behavior continues leaving school staff wondering why none of their plans seem to work.  Within this PD lies the answer to that question.  Through the creation of an actual Functional Behavior Assessment or FBA, participants will learn the science behind the development of behavior plans that work.  Participants will leave with the knowledge of step-by-step research-based procedures used to curve problematic behavior patterns once and for all.
