Limited Capacity filling up

Why is the English language so hard? Italian has 33 sounds, spelled with only 25 letters or letter combinations. Japanese has 46 phonetic characters. English has 40 sounds and 1,100 ways to spell. There are twice as many identified individuals with dyslexia in English-speaking cultures as in countries with less complex languages. The English language is complex and challenging, but teaching it shouldn't be. Let's put the '/f/un' back into phonics! During this session, participants will learn how to break the code in phonemic instruction and awareness. We will explore best practices in teaching phonics instruction either as a whole class or in small, targeted groups. All participants will have an opportunity to design an interactive and multi-sensory lesson that best meets the needs of their scholars. By the end of the session, participants will leave with great resources, ideas, and new skills to bring back to their campuses!
